Tilbury 5 VCD 2 (Att 62)
Tilbury finished there home season, with a fine 5-2 victory over VCD on Monday afternoon. The game was preceded by a impeccable one minute silence for the former Tilbury legend Tony Macklin who recently passed away.
Gary Henty made two changes to his line up with Aaron Waters and Toby Aromolaran returning to the starting 11.
Both sides started strongly, but it was the Dockers who struck early. On 4 minutes a good move saw Aromolaran and Emiel Aiken linking up well, before playing in Ryan Melaugh who smashed into the roof of the net. On 8 minutes Aromolaran got down the left and found the feet of Emiel Aiken to slot home. Melaugh had two chances in the space of 2 minutes as Tilbury started to dominate. On 29 Tilbury made it 3-0 when Kurt Smith switched play and sent over a 50 yard ball to the feet of Conor Mead who crossed for Aiken to score. VCD had 2 good chances with Kisitu heading wide and McCullock denied by a fine Clarke Bogard save.
The early stages of the second half was action packed. On 53 Conor Mead fired just wide, before VCD pulled a goal back when Zapata-Caicedo hit home. 2 minutes later Tilbury again increased to 3 when a cross from the right found the head of Danny Norton who flicked his header off the bar and over the line. On 59 it became 4-2 when a cross from the right found Zapata-Caicedo again who hit this time into an empty net.
Ryan Melaugh tried a volley that just went wide. Going into the final 10 minutes Melaugh and Aromolaran had good opportunities.
On 86 Tilbury confirmed the points when Conor Mead picked the ball up and curled right footed into the net for a deserved goal.
Tilbury remain in 12th place in the league with just one long trip to Dereham Town on Saturday.
After the game manager Gary Henty commented "I thought we played well and pleased with the result. It was a pleasing afternoon and gave the supporters a good afternoon"
The Dockers play there final game of the season on Saturday when they travel to Norfolk to play Dereham Town.
